SUWC News:

First Aid Training (20/04/21):

The club organises a first aid training session for its members, this is with an outsourced company which certifies you as a first aider for the next 3 years.
You don't have to be a leader to go on the first aid training! It is a great experience and another thing to add to your CV!

So if you're interested contact us via Facebook, Instagram, email, or through our socials!

The SUWC needs leaders! (20/04/21):
If you are interested in being a walks leader:

The walking club needs leaders to hold its walks, if you're interested in becoming a leader yourself please check out the attached pdf!! Being a leader means you get to plan and hold walks for the club, both during the semester and on club trips. You don't need any prior experience, we cover all the necessary training!

Key dates:
- Meet and Greet: Tuesday 20th April. 6pm
- 1st Training session: Thursday 29th April. 6pm
- 2nd Training session: Saturday 1st May. Full day
- 3rd Training session: Tuesday 4th May. 6pm

Return to Walks (01/04/21):

We're back!
That's right folks, we are (cautiously) returning to hosting walks again! Current Government rules allow groups of 6, so it will be the same format as before (1 leader, 5 participants per group.)

You will be emailed by our COVID Officer after signing up to a walk by the provided form. They will give you (yet another) form to fill out, this is for Track and Trace purposes. Your data is stored for 3 weeks and then deleted, and only the COVID Officer can access the data.

Check the Walks & Events page for info on upcoming walks!

Club Membership (01/04/21):

Club Membership is currently FREE!
Yes, you heard us right! For the remainder of the current academic year, Club Membership is free! Details of how to get that are here, on our Join Us page!

Isolation Walk of the Week:

Our top tip for somewhere to explore on your lonesome this week is... River Sheaf

Starting from Granville Square in Sheffield city centre, this walk follows the course of the River Sheaf past Heeley City Farm and finishes in Millhouses Park. It takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes in one direction.

A PDF copy of the map can be found here. You can also view the route on Google maps via The Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust website.

Simply enter your email below and we'll keep you updated every Tuesday with all the details of what we're up to! Or you can check out our Walks & Events and Trips pages for all the details at any time.

Who are we?

We are a bunch of (mostly) University of Sheffield students who really love walking about in the Peak District and all places hilly - anyone is welcome on our walks and we'll always do our best to accomodate you.

What do we get up to?

Weekly Walks

The club runs walks most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the University semesters - the exact locations are in our weekly emails.
The walks will generally range from 8 to 13 miles and we try to have an easier and harder walk every weekend.
We always welcome new people on our walks whether you're a member or not. As always we only ask that you turn up with sensible footwear and enough food and water to see you through the day.

Don't worry if you're too busy to come walking sometimes - you can still join us for our brilliant weekly socials!
These are every Thursday, 7:30pm at various pubs around Sheffield. There's often a big turn-out so it's a great chance to meet lots of new people.
We also have non-alcoholic socials planned for 2020 - keep an eye out for these!
For information on these keep an eye on our weekly email or our Walks & Events page.

The club generally organises 3 trips a year, our 'Fresher's Trip' in October, an Easter trip, and our summer trip which takes place at the end of the academic year.
Anyone is very welcome to come on these - we generally stay in a bunkbarn or similar accomodation for a couple of nights.
Previous trips in the past have visited places such as the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Snowdonia!
If you're interested in these - keep an eye on our emails or our Trips page!
